Parking & Driving Policies

 

All Employees and Visitors are expected to place safety first when driving and parking on site property

 

Driving and parking expectations will be enforced through the following means:

 

1.      Plant personnel are expected to assist with enforcement of the policy by documenting unsafe driving acts through observations and NCR’s 

2.      Team Safety members will conduct observations at least one day per month

3.      Increased observations will be performed during the outage ramp-up and execution timeframe by Site Management and Site Safety

 

Duke – RNP driving and parking expectations:

 

1)      Seat belt usage is required on plant site in any moving vehicle or equipment, when seat belts are installed

2)      No cell phone use when driving on plant site, unless in hands free mode.  This includes no texting or dialing while driving

3)      Vehicles or equipment must come to a complete stop at all stop signs or markings, pedestrian crosswalks when lights are flashing, and any pedestrian crosswalk if pedestrian is in or near crosswalk

4)      No parking on grass.  Park only in designated parking lots

5)      No driving across parking spaces.  Drive only in marked driving lanes

6)      No backing into angled parking spaces

7)      No parking/waiting in driving lanes during shift turnover

8)      Trucks, SUV’s, and oversize vehicles must park in designated spaces, when available

9)      Cars shall not park in spaces designated as Large Truck and SUV parking only

10)  Speed limits shall be adhered to at all times

 

 

Consequences:

 

1.      First offense - coaching session will be held with the employee not complying with the driving policy.  These sessions will be performed by the BWB Site Manager, and Duke Superintendent.  Corrective actions will be taken that’ll address the employees negative behavior / performance.

2.      Second offense - coaching session will be held with the employee not complying with the driving policy.  These sessions will be performed by the BWB Site Manager, Duke Superintendent, Duke Site VP, or Site DSO.  Corrective actions will be taken that’ll address the employees continued and unacceptable negative behavior / performance.


Who will be permitted to park onsite:
  • Duke Energy employees who possess a RNP Nuclear Security/PAA issued badge (white background)
  • Duke Energy employees who possess a Corporate Security issued badge
  • Badged contractors who possess an ‘RNP Outage Parking Pass’
  • Badged contractors who are in a service / delivery vehicle
  • Others as pre-arranged and determined by Duke Energy Senior Management
  • NRC personnel
 
‘RNP Outage Parking Passes’ will be distributed to all employees and contractors at Unit 1 & 2 that are badged as of September 2, 2013. The passes will be provided to you by your supervisor starting on September 3. 
 
Note: Multiple badged personnel (including contractors) are allowed to come on-site via the ACP as long as at least one (1) individual in the vehicle is in possession of an ‘RNP Outage Parking Pass’ or they are riding with a Duke Energy employee with a white RNP Nuclear badge or a Duke Energy Corporate badge.
 
Personnel are encouraged to carpool if possible. In addition, personnel working in support organizations are encouraged to stagger work start times with prior supervisor approval.
 
This park and ride plan will assist the site in accommodating approximately 2,100 people at the height of RO-28 As we continue to work together towards a successful refuel outage, I would like to thank you for your support of the many logistical changes necessary to accommodate the number of people scheduled to arrive.
